brief farewell
a flame of colour
gemlike sun
This was the sunset from Ricketts Point last night. I have probably covered the details of this beautiful place in a number of posts now, usually with a sunset image or two. Rarely are we disappointed .

A gem of a haiku! Such wonderful sunsets too – as usual. 😉

Thanks Sandra, the haiku was begging for a sunset but I will have to broaden my haiku subjects , too many sunsets , however Ron’s challenges keep asking for them.

Beautiful moments of sunset time… Sky is amazing in these colours, always fascinates me. And sure your poetic spirit talks too dear Denis. I love both of them. Thank you, love, nia

Gorgeous although a couple look like nuclear explosions – must be my mood today!

Thanks Gerald. They do look like nuclear explosions, its the shimmering effect of the intense sunsetting over a moving body of shallow water. i was lucky to capture this visual effect as it only lasted for seconds.

That last photo in particular is unusually gorgeous, balanced. 🙂 Lovely haiku accompaniment.

I appreciate your comments Lizl, sometimes the effects work well as the sun sets across to the outgoing tide

What a gift the words were to accompany this photo. Literally, a match made in heaven. Xx

They came as soon as I downloaded the images, I am not sure about heavenly interference though Melissa. Thanks for your compliment.

By my heavenly reference, I was referring to how glorious your photos are, 2nd is my favourite. Gem and flame work perfectly to describe it.

You had me worried there for a minute Melissa

Sorry to worry you. At best, there is a higher power at work here and at worst, I misused the word literally (but it was an intentional choice). You’ve captured all the elements of earth, air, fire, water; beautifully separated but also combined. You never know how people are going to interpret these thoughts-that things don’t fall in place by chance-and so much is lost in translation from the written word, with no body language or tone of voice. Perhaps I should have just said–Awesome photos and haiku Denis!! They made a big impression on me. Have a great Thursday. 🙂

Your compliments were overpowering Melissa, thanks for your positive encouragement. Perhaps there is a greater power out there discretely influencing how we all go about doing our bit.

Gem-like sun–a nice phrase. The water ripples and eddies in the last picture caught my eye. Beautiful 🙂

Thanks Janice. If its low tide at this place on sunset there are great opportunities set up for the photographer.

A gem of a view, Denis. I inhale and I can hear the sunset sing.

Lovely comments Olga, thats a new compliment, inhaling the sunset from the image, wonder if it can be marketed?

Ha ha! Glad you enjoyed it. I think a similar version has already been use in the movie. “City of Angels.”

Hi Denis! It seems that Ricketts Point is a wonderful place to watch the sun set. Gorgeous images and the sun does look like a gem and I love the way its reflection glitters over the water. The beautiful haiku ties everything together nicely. Well done (as usual). 🙂

It certainly is Vashti. This google image search shares lots of day images and maps to give you an idea of where it is and what is there. Melbourne is a city of 4 million and is located on port Phillip Bay. Ricketts Point is a jutting point in the bay.
