frayed cloud
veiled by sunset
autumn secret
April fourth and the sun and clouds conspired to paint a beautiful soft sunset scene, saying goodbye to the heat of summer and welcoming the mellowness of autumn.
These images were taken in quick succession from the cliffs at Black Rock overlooking Port Phillip Bay. Fish were obviously biting and these keen amateurs in their little boats were making the most of an early evening. Daylight Saving had ended two nights before.
This haiku and image connects with RonovanWrites Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge 91 Fray&Veiled so for stunning poetry click here https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/2016/04/04/ronovanwrites-weekly-haiku-poetry-prompt-challenge-91-frayveiled/
April is Spring… April is Autumn…. World/earth is amazing, in my childhood years, we were learning the months of the seasons and I didn’t know that in other hemisphere it was different. I learned later… I don’t know why I remembered this now, but life on earth is a magic… magic. I loved your sunset photographs, Port Phillip Bay seems so beautiful, Thank you dear Denis, have a nice day, Love, nia

Thanks Nia, yes it is odd how the reverse seasons happen in the North and South hemispheres. The Bay is beautiful, its like a huge inland lake with a tiny entrance out to the ocean.

Oh Denis, you’ve outdone yourself! So gorgeous, both haiku and images.

Thanks Laura. The softness of colour is more like painting I think.

Such painterly photographs, such beautiful sunsets and ‘frayed cloud’ fits so perfectly. Thanks for entering our Photo Challenge – you will get the purple heart award this week – ha!ha! 🙂

Thanks Sandra glad you liked the frayed cloud it seemed to fit, what injuries resulted in the award?

The Purple Heart is when the Photo Challenge and Ron’s Haiku challenge for that week are combined. xx

Autumn’s secret indeed! A beautiful haiku that captures an essence of fall — as you may have guessed I love sunsets with complex clouds.

Thanks Janice. I agree, clouds in their variety certainly make a sunset so much better

Thanks Pat. I will only post photo/haiku combinations on this blog, quite pure. I have been thinking of setting up another photo essay blog, just text and images but time!!!!!

Perfect poetic weaving to describe those mellow photos, Denis. Happy for you that the soaring heat has transitioned into the coolness of autumn. 🙂

Hello Denis! Your pictures always mesmerize me. It’s kind of bizarre to think that you’re starting autumn, because here in the US we’re starting spring. Love your haiku too! 😀 xx

Thanks Vashti. Yes Autumn is half way through but still warm and we have mid 20’s C days coming up and still not much rain.

Here in Florida it’s springtime and everything is in bloom. It’s a great time of year. The weather is mild and comfortable. Soon though Summer will be here with its hot, humid weather. Thank God for the beaches. 😉

Good luck with your Summer Vashti, I don’t want to see one like we just had for a while. Remember Global warming!!

Beautiful haiku and amazing photos. I forgot that you are heading into autumn. These international connections are wonderful.

Thanks, today was 27oC about 8 degrees above average, so global warming may be pushing the seasonal differences closer together.
