These scenes from last Spring remind us that early signs of buds forming mean the nectar and blossom feeders will soon be out and about singing and feeding.

The top and bottom pictures are a Little Lorikeet and the bird in the middle is a New Holland Honeyeater. They were sharing the same dinner table, a flowering gum, when I took the images.

Another beautiful winter sunset over Port Phillip Bay from Sandringham cliffs.

We have now passed the Winter Equinox and each evening  daylight lingers for a little longer. The birds are becoming a little frisky , Greenhood orchids have flowered and more Wattles are blooming

Three different winter evenings looking out from the Sandringham cliffs over to Point Cook across Port Phillip Bay. As usual the sun repeats a dazzling performance usually with a surprise twist of colour . We are nearly half way through Winter with the first Wattles beginning to bloom and early reports of Magpies nesting are being shared. Spring is coming.

Sometimes as we wait to discover the sunset display for the evening other natural elements entertain us. A few days ago on the Black Rock cliffs a gentle breeze playing on the bay provided a beautiful pattern across the water surface. Humans are very creative but I suspect all our ideas are out there in the natural world waiting to stimulate imaginations.
