winter waves
testing man made strength
water wins
These walls along the Black Rock coast have been continually tested by increasingly stronger waves over recent years. each year repairs are carried out. This year they are just holding, a few cracks are appearing but so far ………

The water definitely wins. 😅 Looks quite scary actually. I often have an irrational fear of the wave dragging me into the sea and into a shark’s mouth 😥

Water will win by a long shot…great haiku take on ‘strength’. Those waves are huge–very impressive!

Gosh that photo of the sea wall takes me back. I remember walking along the ones at Mentone when I was a kid. Good to hear they still holding strong after all this time. From the look of your photos they much be getting quite a battering these days.

The ones at Mentone are safe because of the beach re-nourishment Sue but down at Black Rock its water on wall during the winter.

You really captured the momentum of the sea in that first photo. A moment captured in time that says so much about the moment that followed next. Superb haiku with the broken and shifted barrier.

Thanks Melissa, probably looks a bit tame compared to some of the seas you would get at times!
