seeking food
fooled by a runner
lifes not fair
There is a lot to read into the imagination of this butterfly. Was it attracted by the colour of Jill’s runner? Was it fooled by the pattern that looked like plant structure? Was there some spilt honey on the shoe? Whatever the reason this persistent little insect would not depart. Jill took her shoe off and held it up for me to get a close up shot and still it stayed. Eventually it walked onto her hand and stayed there for a while before finally flying away hopefully discovering real food somewhere.
It had heard about your blog and wanted to share! Lovely image.

Awesome! I have yet to be that up close and personal with a butterfly, either in its mind or its body.

Thanks Annette.
Try approaching quietly and have some honey on your hand, and don’t forget the camera

Thanks Olga, it was unusual, almost like it was stuck on the shoe.

Aww, poor little butterfly. I’m surprised it wasn’t afraid and just stayed. Very interesting. Hopefully it found real food somewhere––like you said. Good one!

It continued on its way Vashti but was in no hurry to fly that day.

This is a wonderful haiku observation! Let’s hope there was some sweet on the shoe or maybe it was simply dazzled by false hope as you suggest 🙂

Thanks Janice, maybe it was just resting. I have seen bees so full of pollen they just have a rest for a while, maybe butterflies too.

Perhaps … we over estimate our capacity, why not a bee or butterfly? But whatever the reason it feels special when a butterfly stays on us ( I don’t know if I’d want a bee to rest on me 😉

It was and most of all Jill actually picked the butterfly up in her hand and it sat there before flying away.
