surfing fun
for a few seconds
wave power
While we were watching the whales in Warrnambool recently these surfers provided entertainment between sightings. When I was a teenager some of my friends would surf at this spot or across the river mouth at Grannies. Both locations have wicked undertow and need to be treated with caution. This day the waves were small but holding up well for any riders who made a catch.
Just the image for the one a week Photo Challenge word challenge and this week it is WAVE. This is my contribution . For this years 52 weekly challenges planned by Cathy and Sandra visit Cathy’s blog at https://nanacathydotcom.wordpress.com/one-a-week-photo-challenge-2017/
Love the action shots, in the wave power. Wonderful images.

Thanks Sandra. They were between us and the Whales, so I kept an eye on any surfers riding waves while looking for the Whale to breach.

There is a lot of skill and courage to do this especially with strong rip/undertows and around that coast great White Pointer sharks.

Great action shot! I’d love to be able to surf, or at least give the illusion of being an action woman, sadly I’m not!! 🤣 I have nominated you for a Blue Sky Tag Denis. It’s just a bit of fun on the blog. No pressure if you don’t want to take part though 😊

Thanks for the thought but I have remained awards free, the positive dialogues are reward enough. Start body board surfing then kneel then finally stand but on little waves first.

My pleasure Denis, indeed they are. You make it sound so easy… I fear with my lack of balance standing would be almost impossible!! But thank you 😊

Just a bit longer lying, then kneeling, the balance thing will come. I have seen 1 legged surfers.

Oh well, surely with enough practice I’d be able to master it eventually – however ungracefully!

Thanks Xenia. They were performing while we waited for the whales and I had the 500mm lens on so why waste the opportunity.

Wow! I’ve only ever seen that on TV. It must be awesome to witness in person. A very nice fit with the prompt.

Having lived near surf coasts most of my life this scene is very common. You will have to take a holiday to Hawaii Pat.

Now that’s a wave! even though you called them small. Never seen waves like that round here.

We are surrounded by oceans here so big waves are BIG in Australia given the right conditions, these are pretty small compared to other times of the year at the same place.
