A  photographic timeline of our Afghan Hounds on beaches they loved. From the top down:                                                                                                                               1977 Kelly on Shoreham Beach                                                                                         1987 Suki and Flossie on Merricks Beach                                                                      2003 Kara at Ricketts Point                                                                                                2010 Charlie at Shoreham Beach                                                                                     2017 Maggie at Ricketts Point

The first 5 were at trusted times of their lives when they were lead free on their favourite beaches, as yet Maggie is on hold although she is trusted to walk in and out the front gate to and from the car.  Kelly loved the beach most of all as can be seen from the disturbed sand around her as she grins into the lens.

  1. A beautiful timeline and a lovely haiku Denis! Maggie’s face is a happy one too and it will be great to see her run free on the beach and splash in the water when it is safe to let her off 😉🐾🐾

  3. This maybe a weird question, but how do you remove the sand from her fur? I assume that she runs into the water at some stage, right? (sorry, it just that you have so many beauty photos of them walking on the beach; I got curious on the “after care”)

    1. Good question Joyce. The answer is , with difficulty. I am always cleaning sand out of the car and vacuuming and sweeping it up in the house. As for an Afghan after a swim, very messy, it has to be a hot day so the fur dries.
