Sunset on Monday night, almost the equinox and a beautiful arrangement of colour looking West across Port Phillip Bay from the Black Rock cliffs. Sadly however I was tucked up in bed when the sun rose so don’t know if it was equal in display.

Monday was the equinox at Black Rock. But maybe just one night before, the sun would have set directly behind the You Yangs (mountains) from this point!

I have a spot near home where I can watch the sun set over the mountains. It’s very peaceful and calming! Thank you for asking 🙂

Sounds great, there would be some wonderful long shadow photo opportunities by the sound of it.

I haven’t really given it much thought. I am still learning a new camera, so I am taking the shots a bit slow.

Keep taking photos when you are watching and if you have a tripod it helps a lot with sunsets.

Thanks Olga. These effects are a result of rain clouds passing through day after day and hanging across the horizon in the evenings.

Amazing shots enhanced with your words. The scene is so vast and the sun so sharp that you can get a sense of our small planet’s revolution.

Thanks Janice, your comments are profound, we are so lucky to have a choice of locations on this amazing bay , we choose where to go for what may be the best shot.

Thanks Annette, the colours can change amazingly over a period of a few minutes when this cloud/sun combination come together. I sometimes shoot off 50 plus images in succession and then its hard to delete.

Thanks Pat. Its the combination of height, bay and wide horizons, further West down the coast they are better.
