Charming photo of the fledgling shrike. Engaging contrast between the soft feathers and the harsh twisted wires.

This particular perch right between the couplings on the electricity wires has been favoured across some weeks by this young bird. The parents also sit here. I just stand in my back yard and zoom in with the lens.

Some lovely imagery in this collection– it all worked well–from the strawberry milkshake sunset to the frothy bird breast and that Cow picture fooled me–I thought it was a real at first 🙂

Thanks Janice. I think a few dogs get fooled by the cow when they visit the vet.

That could be upsetting for some dogs. Our dogs bark when cows come out to graze across the road from us.

Enchanting! Love the “smooth singer” and also the “smooth water” the best, I think. Strawberry milkshake! 😀 Milking the marrow!

Magpie and milkshake sunset photos and haiku are just sublime. That magpie’s eye really catches mine. 🙂

Thanks Melissa, there was much creative scope with those words. The magpie was watching Charlie who was standing behind me watching the magpie with her bone.

Interesting pictures and great haiku to go with each one. That statue of a cow with a cast is so intriguing and the one of the bird eating marrow is so creepy. its eyes look red. I love it. Very cool post. 😉

Thanks for your compliments Vashti. Lifelike statues of farm animals are common in Australia and often used as an advertisement outside a business like at this vet except a cow is more appropriate in farming communities not suburban Melbourne. Magpies have brown eyes , the reddish colour is caused by the low angle of the sun. They are beautiful birds , have a lovely range of song and are very tame around people, very fearless. This one was only a metre from me and watching Charlie with that eye.
